Nashik Road Station — What to Know
Nashik Road Station (station code: NK) is the main railway station for Nashik district, located in the eastern part of Nashik city. Don't be confused by the name — Nashik Road station is in Nashik city itself. There is also a smaller Devlali station nearby, but Nashik Road is the main hub with the best connectivity.
The station has 4 platforms, 1 AC waiting hall, basic refreshments and a prepaid taxi counter outside. During Kumbh season it gets very busy — expect crowds on the platform, particularly on the day before and the morning of Shahi Snan. The station has been upgraded in recent years with improved facilities but it is not a large station and you should not expect it to function as smoothly as a metro terminal during festival peaks.
Key Trains Serving Nashik Road
The trains that matter most for Kumbh pilgrims: the Panchvati Express (12108/12107, Mumbai CST ↔ Nashik Road, 2 hours 45 minutes) — the classic pilgrim train. The Devagiri Express (11057, Mumbai CST ↔ Aurangabad, stops at Nashik Road) — faster option with fewer stops. The Janshatabdi Express (Mumbai CST to Nashik Road, fewer stops, faster). From Delhi: the Kushinagar Express and the Godavari Express both serve Nashik Road. From Bengaluru: the Udyan Express via Mumbai.

From Nashik Road Station to Trimbakeshwar
The 28 km from Nashik Road Station to Trimbakeshwar is the final leg of the train journey. Options: MSRTC bus from Nashik CBS (take a local auto or e-rickshaw from the station to the CBS — 3 km, Rs 30 to 50; then bus to Trimbakeshwar — Rs 40, 45 minutes to 1 hour). Pre-paid taxi from the station: Rs 600 to 900 for the direct journey to Trimbakeshwar, takes 45 to 60 minutes.

Platform Navigation and Luggage Safety
Nashik Road Station's platforms can get genuinely crowded during peak Kumbh arrival days, and pilgrims travelling with substantial luggage should budget extra time to navigate between platforms if a train arrival requires crossing via the footbridge. Porters (identifiable by their red uniform and numbered badge) are available at a fixed government rate and are worth using if you're managing multiple bags alone.
Keep your luggage within sight at all times on the platform, and avoid leaving bags unattended even briefly during the crowded festival period.
Devlali Station — A Note on Avoiding Confusion
Some long-distance trains stop at Devlali station rather than Nashik Road, and the two are sometimes confused by first-time visitors given their proximity. Devlali is a smaller station with fewer facilities and a longer road journey to Trimbakeshwar than Nashik Road — always confirm which specific station your train ticket lists before finalising your onward transport plan.
