The general pattern from previous Simhasthas: large vehicle parks at 10 to 15 km from Trimbakeshwar on the Nashik-Trimbak Road and at Nashik city periphery locations. Smaller satellite parking near the akhara zones. Specialised parking for buses and heavy vehicles on NH-848.
For 2 to 4-wheeler private vehicles on Snan days: expect to park 10 to 15 km from the temple and take the shuttle. The permit system for vehicles in the inner zone is strictly controlled and generally reserved for registered medical vehicles, press, VIP and accommodation providers with pre-issued permits.
Arrival Timing for Parking
On Shahi Snan days: the parking zones fill to capacity from midnight onward. If you're coming in a private vehicle and don't have reserved accommodation within the inner zone (which comes with parking allocation), the practical advice is: arrive at the outer parking zone by 9 PM the night before the Snan. Yes, this means camping in or near your car for several hours. Many pilgrims do this — bring blankets, food and the understanding that this is part of the Kumbh experience.
The alternative that we recommend to all accommodation guests: don't drive. Take the train or bus to Nashik and the accommodation shuttle from there. You'll arrive more rested, more comfortable, and with far less logistical complexity. The car culture instinct of wanting to have your own vehicle can actively work against the Kumbh experience on Snan days.
Parking Costs and Official Fees
Official parking at Nashik Kumbh designated zones is charged at government-fixed rates — typically Rs 50 to 100 for two-wheelers per day, Rs 100 to 200 for four-wheelers, Rs 400 to 600 for buses. These rates are subject to the 2027 administration announcement. Unofficial "parking" offered by locals on private land near the zones can be Rs 300 to 500 per vehicle — sometimes convenient, sometimes not adjacent to the shuttle access points.
For buses carrying pilgrimage groups: registered pilgrimage buses typically receive a dedicated parking allocation as part of the group registration with the Kumbh administration. If your group is travelling by chartered bus, have the bus operator register with the Nashik Simhastha administration as early as possible after registration opens — typically 6 months before the festival.
Vehicle Safety at Overnight Parking Zones
For pilgrims who do choose to camp overnight in their vehicle near a parking zone, basic precautions matter — park in the designated, patrolled sections rather than informal roadside spots, keep valuables out of sight, and stay within sight of other pilgrims' vehicles rather than isolated at the edge of the zone.

Alternatives to Bringing a Personal Vehicle At All
Given the genuine complexity of Kumbh parking logistics, we increasingly recommend guests reconsider whether a personal vehicle is worth bringing at all for the festival period specifically — even guests who live within driving distance often find that arriving by train or bus and relying on accommodation shuttles for the duration of their stay produces a meaningfully less stressful visit.
If your journey to Nashik is otherwise convenient without a personal vehicle, we'd suggest strongly considering this option, particularly for a first Kumbh visit.

While this offers genuine flexibility for navigating congestion that larger vehicles can't match, two-wheeler riders should exercise particular caution in the dense pre-dawn Snan crowds, where visibility is limited and pedestrian density is extremely high near the ghat approaches.
Official two-wheeler parking zones are typically closer to the temple than four-wheeler zones, which is the main practical advantage of this mode for pilgrims comfortable riding in festival conditions.
