What Connectivity Actually Looks Like
Kumbh Ganga Retreat has fibre-optic broadband connected to the property — 100 Mbps symmetrical. This sounds like a lot, and under normal conditions it is. The honest caveat: during Snan days when several million people arrive in the Nashik-Trimbak corridor simultaneously, the mobile network towers in the area are genuinely saturated, and mobile data becomes unreliable or impossible for hours at a time. Our broadband, being fixed-line rather than mobile, is not affected by this — accommodation Wi-Fi continues to work on Snan days.
The Wi-Fi password is at reception on arrival. Coverage extends through all indoor spaces, to the dining area and pavilion, and to most of the outdoor sitting areas. The tent area has Wi-Fi but the signal is weaker than indoor areas — a signal booster covers the nearest tents, but the furthest tents may have patchy coverage. If reliable connectivity is important for your work, the accommodation's communal workspace (two tables with power, good signal) is the best place to work.
Going Offline — The Kumbh Invitation
A thought worth sharing: most of the experiences that make a Kumbh visit transformative happen when the phone is in the pocket. The sadhu who catches your eye. The child with the flower. The moment the crowd chants together and the sound fills you from every direction. These require presence, not documentation.
Many guests make a personal rule for their Kumbh stay: phone for emergencies and navigation, camera for deliberate photography moments, but not in the hand between these uses. Several guests have told us this self-imposed phone discipline was the single decision that most improved their experience. The Kumbh has operated without Wi-Fi for 2,000 years. You can be present in it without a constant signal.

Backup Options If Wi-Fi Is Temporarily Down
While rare, any fixed connection can occasionally experience a brief outage during severe monsoon weather. Our property maintains a backup mobile hotspot for these situations, prioritised for guests with genuinely urgent needs.
For guests whose work cannot tolerate any interruption, we recommend a backup mobile data plan as insurance, though outages are infrequent and typically resolved within an hour.
A Balanced Approach to Connectivity
Our overall philosophy on connectivity is to make reliable access genuinely available for guests who need it, without making the property feel like a co-working space that happens to be near a temple. The workspace and video call rooms exist specifically so that necessary connectivity doesn't have to intrude on the shared communal spaces where most guests are consciously trying to be present rather than online.
We find this balance works well in practice — guests who need to stay connected can do so effectively, and guests who've come specifically to disconnect are rarely confronted with others visibly working around them in the spaces meant for shared reflection.
Charging and Device Support
Every room and tent has multiple standard Indian power points, and reception keeps a small stock of common charging cables and universal adapters for guests who've forgotten theirs or whose own has failed mid-trip. On Snan days, when guests are away from the property for several hours before dawn, we recommend a full overnight charge the night before rather than relying on a power bank alone.
For guests bringing camera equipment or drones for photography, let reception know — we can point you to the best charging setup for larger battery banks and advise on the property's policy for drone use, which is restricted near the temple corridor for safety and privacy reasons.
Staying Reachable Without Staying Online
For guests who want to be reachable for genuine emergencies without keeping their phone active throughout the day, our reception desk is happy to serve as a relay point — family or colleagues can call the accommodation directly, and we'll pass along an urgent message to a guest who's deliberately unplugged for the day's pilgrimage activities.
